Science Experiments

Today we tested if some substances dissolve when you mix them with water. When a substance dissolves, it looks like it disappears. But it really has just mixed with the water to make a see-through liquid called a solution. When you mix sugar or salt with water, they dissolve to make a see through solution. This can be called a transparent solution.

When you mix sand or flour with water, they do not dissolve. The sand just sits at the bottom of the glass jar. Some substances do not mix with water at all so it was easy to get the sand out of the water again.
