Green Schools

On Tuesday, March 14, 2006 we had a clean-up day. We cleaned the yard and around the back of the school. We were delighted because the school grounds were very clean.

We undertook an environmental review. We have cut down on litter, and rubbish going to the landfill. Children have already started to use lunch boxes and kitchen paper instead of tinfoil.

A committee of pupils was set up to make sure that everybody disposed of their waste properly.
The committees printed up notices to encourage people to photocopy on both sides of the sheet, recycle old batteries and old phones.

The school got involved with the Tesco collection for phones and also encouraged people to bring in used batteries to be recycled.

Every week we work in the garden. Every Thursday we dig worms for the compost bin.

When we were rewarded with the Green - Flag the children made an outfit each, out of recyclable material. It was a fun day for all of us.

We are very proud of our flag, and will continue this work.
